The WCPA seeks to collaborate with any group, organization, or individual with an interest in promoting poetry in Worcester County. Drawing on a half-century of poetry advocacy and programming, we can offer guidance, support with publicity, limited direct funding, and backing as co-sponsors of an event.
If you have an idea for poetry in your community, contact us, or better yet, visit us at our monthly board meeting at 7 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month at the WCPA office located at 61 Harvard St., Worcester. Everyone is welcome, and we are especially eager to bring traditionally underrepresented voices into the conversation. The WCPA welcomes you to join our all-volunteer association, as a member or a board member. Each board member takes on a project of interest, which might include organizing a reading, coordinating a program for young people, or creating a virtual event. Please note that you don’t need to be a member or board member to bring a project to the WCPA board.
Recently, we have undertaken two exciting partnerships. With the Worcester Cultural Commission and the City of Worcester, we have resurrected the poet laureate position for the City of Worcester along with a youth poet laureate from the city’s schools. We have also partnered with the Clemente Course in the Humanities, an award-winning college-level seminar for highly motivated low-income adults seeking to build better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities. Please look around our website for more information about our activities.
