Reading by Oliver de la Paz

Oliver de la Paz is the Poet Laureate of Worcester for 2023-2025. He is the author or editor of seven books, including five collections of poems: Names Above Houses, Furious Lullaby, Requiem for the Orchard, Post Subject: A Fable, and The Boy in the Labyrinth, a finalist for the Massachusetts Book Award in poetry. His latest collection, The Diaspora Sonnets, was long-listed for the National Book Award and received the 2023 New England Book Award for poetry.

Oliver is a founding member of Kundiman and serves on the board of Poetry Daily. His work has appeared in journals such as Virginia Quarterly Review, North American Review, Tin House, Poetry, and in anthologies and periodicals including Asian American Poetry: The Next Generation and the New York Times. He teaches creative writing at the College of the Holy Cross.

Oliver’s reading is the first event in the spring 2024 Working Writers Series, sponsored by the Creative Writing Program at Holy Cross. Other visiting writers this spring will include essayist Elena Passarello, novelist Nicole Flattery, poet, memoirist, and novelist Vesna Goldsworthy, and poet Nathan McClain.
