Join us for a reading of poems set all over Worcester – Plantation Street, Coes Pond, Vernon Hill, Main South, Tatnuck Square, downtown—and the launching of Poems in and out of Places.

Open Mic—Share a poem, your own or someone else’s, about a place in Worcester (sign up at the event)

Feature—Enjoy poems about Worcester places that are written or read, or both, by Elizabeth Bishop, Tony Brown, Gennifer Dorgan, Mary Fell, Judith Ferrara, John Gaumond, Chris Gilbert, Gertrude Halstead, Carolyn Howe, Judith O’Connell Hoyer, Elijah Johnson, Stanley Kunitz, Ann Lewis, Dan Lewis, Juan Matos, Charles Olson, Robert Eugene Perry, Vidya Prabhu, Catherine Reed, Eve Rifkah, Robert Steele, Susan Elizabeth Sweeney, Paul Szlosek, Heather Treseler, Mike True, and David Williams

CALL FOR POEMS AND CONTEST ANNOUNCEMENT

Mapping Worcester in Poetry is seeking brand-new poems about the city’s public spaces by June 1, 2023. Selected poems will be displayed, recorded, published, and awarded an honorarium of $75. During the year before the deadline, we’re hosting free workshops on writing about place. We invite you to learn more about the Poems in and out of Places contest and workshops and also more about Mapping Worcester in Poetry.
