A FREE virtual book discussion with author Jennifer Freed

May 31, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

  • « Root and Press Poetry Extravaganza
  • A virtual Thirsty Lab with J.D. Scrimgeour »

Join author Jennifer Freed on Zoom May 31 at 2:00 for an informal discussion of her new book, When Light Shifts.  In this book, Freed creates a memoir that evokes from multiple perspectives the aftermath of brain injury (in this case cerebral hemorrhage), touching on themes of identity and ability, loss and healing, and the demands of parenting one’s parents.

Program hosted on Zoom by the Gale Free Library in Holden, MA.  Copies of the book can be borrowed at the registration desk.  To register, please call (508)210-5569, or email galefreelibrary@gmail.com

Jennifer Freed is an author, poet and teacher, and has been leading the Gale Free Library’s monthly “Craft of Writing” programs since 2014. She has been a finalist for the Frank O’Hara prize multiple times, and has received multiple nominations for the Pushcart Prize and Orison Anthology.  Her chapbook, These Hands Still Holding, was a finalist in the 2013 New Women’s Voices Competition, and she was awarded the 2020 Samuel Washington Allen Prize for a long poem or poem-sequence.
