WHAT: Slightly Off-beat Poets Presents: Amie Hyson & Lindy Whiton

WHEREWATERS TAVERN (Cheryl Bonin’s home) 650 Central Turnpike Sutton, MA

WHEN: Sunday October 12 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

WHAT HAPPENS: Our feature poets of the month will each read for 20 minutes. Then we will take a quick break for book sales, snacks, and the raffle before starting the open mic. Open mic will be round robin, one poem at a time until 4 PM.

COST: There will be a 50/50 raffle, split between the feature and the winner. 5$ to enter.

BIOS:

Amie Hyson lives in Western Massachusetts where, thanks to the encouragement of the vibrant & wonderfully welcoming spoken word community, she has been writing & performing her poetry since 2016. She began facilitating creative writing workshops for women in 2017 and has led numerous workshops in her community since, including one that recently began at her local library. During the pandemic she began offering online co-ed “Writing Your Recovery” workshops, which continue weekly Amie’s work appears in several anthologies & she hopes to publish her first collection soon.

Lindy Whiton is a long-time teacher of writing and reading.  She began her career as a poet over 25 years ago and now curates a local Western Massachusetts reading series bringing local writers together to provide them with support and resources.  She has several poems and short stories published in journals including Silkworm and Garlic and Arts Festival Anthology

In July 2023 a reading of her play, Every Moment of Every Day was opened. In late 2024 her first book of poems and photographs, Spirits of the Rookery, was released by Human Error Publishing.  She has two poems included in the journal she also edits, Valley and Beyond; a Writers Read Anthology, also by Human Error Publishing.
