Slightly Off-beat Poets Rebecca Hart Olander & Mark Walsh

WHAT: Slightly Off-beat Poets Presents: Rebecca Hart Olander & Mark Walsh

WHERE: 112 Fabyan-Woodstock Road N Grosvenordale, CT

WHEN: Sunday April 13, 2025 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

WHAT HAPPENS: Our feature poets of the month will each read for 20 minutes. Then we will take a quick break for book sales, snacks, and the raffle before starting the open mic. Open mic will be round robin, one poem at a time until 4 PM.

COST: There will be a 50/50 raffle, split between the feature and the winner. 5$ to enter.

Rebecca Hart Olander’s poetry and collaborative visual and written work has appeared in print, online, and in multiple anthologies. A winner of the Women’s National Book Association Poetry Award, her books include Dressing the Wounds (dancing girl press, 2019) and Uncertain Acrobats (CavanKerry Press, 2021), an Eric Hoffer Book Award Category Finalist and a Massachusetts Center for the Book “Must-Read” selection. Her second full-length collection, Singing from the Deep End, is forthcoming for CavanKerry Press in 2026. Rebecca has taught writing at Amherst and Smith colleges, Westfield State University, and through Pioneer Valley Writers’ Workshop, and she works with poets in the Maslow Family Graduate Program in Creative Writing. She is the editor/director of Perugia Press.

Mark Walsh is an English professor at Massasoit Community College in Brockton, MA, where he teaches literature and philosophy. Recently, he was the head judge of the selection committee for the City of Brockton’s first-ever Youth Poet Laureate. He is an associate editor for The Lily Poetry Review, and his journalism has appeared in The South Shore News & The Marshfield Mariner. His Chapbook, In The Garden of Fortune, was published by Lily Poetry Review Books in May of 2024.  Recent poetry publications include Abandoned Mine, Rituals, Choeofpleirn Press and Nixes Mate
