SUMMARY:Kirun Kapur at Worcester State
DESCRIPTION:Kirun Kapur is the author of four books of poetry: Women in the WaitingRoom (Black Lawrence Press)\, a finalist for the National PoetrySeries; Visiting Indira Gandhi’s Palmist (Elixir Press)\, which won the Arts &Letters Rumi Prize and the Antivenom Poetry Award; and the chapbook Allthe Rivers in Paradise (UChicago Arts). Her fourth book\, I Ride Upon aTiger\, won the 2025 Benjamin Saltman Prize and is forthcoming from RedHen Press in 2028. Her poems have appeared in AGNI\, PoetryInternational\, Prairie Schooner\, Ploughshares\, and many other journals. \n\n\n\nKapur serves as editor at the Beloit Poetry Journal\, one of the nation’soldest poetry publications\, and teaches at Amherst College\, where shedirects the creative writing program. She grew up on the eastern shore ofOahu and now lives along the banks of the Merrimack River.  \n\n\n\nThe reading will begin at 2:00 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room of SheehanHall\, and the free event is open to all members of the Worcester StateUniversity community and our greater Worcester community. \n\n\n\nSponsored by the Judith O’Connell Hoyer ’65 Fund and the Worester StateUniversity English Department. \n\n\n\n\n\n– Heather Treseler
