DESCRIPTION:Maynard Public Library will present “A Celebration of the Life and Work of Elizabeth Bishop.” Authors Lloyd Schwartz and Megan Marshall will discuss Bishop’s life and poetry. Worcester poet Elizabeth Bishop was the winner of the Pulitzer Prize\, the National Book Award\, and the National Book Critics Circle Award\, and many other awards. She has been called “the most famous poet you never heard of.” \nRegistration required to receive the Zoom event link.  \nLloyd Schwartz is a poet\, a professor at the University of Massachusetts Boston\, a Pulitzer Prize winner\, and the author of Elizabeth Bishop: Prose\, Poems\, and Letters. He is currently the Poet Laureate of Somerville and a frequent contributor to NPR’s Fresh Air. SUMMARY:February 2021 WCPA Board Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join the board of the Worcester County Poetry Association for our monthly board meeting. This will once again be a virtual meeting due to the continued need for social distancing. \nThis is a working meeting\, not a poetry reading. We welcome the respectful input of the central Massachusetts poetry community. \nPlease e-mail wcpaboard@yahoo.com if you are interested in joining the board via Zoom. \nThis is a great opportunity to learn more about how the board supports the rich literary history and creative energy of Central Massachusetts. \nPS – As a reminder\, at our January 4\, 2021 meeting the WCPA board voted to move our future meetings to the second Tuesday of each month. This move will provide more time to complete financial reports.
